I have plan to visit to Cuba for Bass-fishing with my wife, and I found out your web-site, but I couldn't any contact way. I really want to visit to Hotel Hanabanillla for Bass-fishing. I want to ask you about any service for fishing such as Boat rental, fishing guide service and etc. Please tell me availability and price. My plan is Oct 1st and that week.

Hotel Hanabanilla, enjoys a superb position on the north flank of Lago Habananilla

By: cubaism Expert, Cuba Posted: 2010-04-10

First the good points... This hotel enjoys a superb position on the north flank of Lago Habananilla, a lovely lake framed by the dramatic Sierra Escambray mountains. The hotel is also a good base for hiking or horse-back rides into the mountains, or for fishing. And your fellow guests are sure to be restricted to Cubans, so it's a good chance to mingle with locals. Now the bad points. Let's start with just getting there, which is a harpy. The road to the hotel washed out in 2003 and has not been repaired. Hence, most guests are ferried by rickety and unsafe (read overloaded!) boat, while others walk the trail that weaves around the lake and across the dam (a half-mile walk that has you sloshing through water-logged turf in places).

The modernist Bauhaus design is similar to scores of Soviet-era edifices erected since the Revolution. Alas, the windows in the accommodations offer no views, as they use frosted glass! The 125 bedrooms are air-conditioned and fitted with functional utility furnishings, but also feature satellite TVs, telephones, and bathrooms recently refitted with modern fixtures.

Don't raise your hopes up in the two restaurants, where the range and quality of food leave much to be desired. And you'll either love or hate the disco, which on weekends kicks out noise to wake the dead. The large swimming pool also gets lively with families.

Nigel Alexander Hunt

Welcome to my site dedicated to the Hotel Hanabanilla. I am "poco a poco" researching and updating it with the aim to provide as complete as possible record of the hotel's ancient and recent history; bearing in mind that the goings-on today may one day be of historical interest.

My site is NOT the official website of the current hotel operator, and is by no means endorsed by them; but I am grateful for their help with the research.

You can make from this site room reservations through the Bizloco eTravel System operated by Cubaism Ltd.

Best wishes for 2008
